Meet the author: Mandy Ord
Mandy Ord is a comic artist, illustrator and educator, from Naarm (Melbourne), Australia.
Her comic stories have appeared in a variety of local and international publications.
Her published books include Rooftops (Finlay Lloyd, 2008), Sensitive Creatures (Allen & Unwin, 2011) and she illustrated Chalk Boy (Allen & Unwin, 2018), a children’s book written by Margaret Wild.
Most recently her book, When One Person Dies The Whole World is Over (Brow Books, 2020), was long-listed for The Stella Prize and shortlisted for the Small Press Network Book of the Year.
Meet the poet: Christine Shamista
Christine Shamista was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and now lives on the land of the Wangal people of the Eora nation in Sydney with her husband and two children.
She is a Doctor in Juridical Science with experience working in the human rights and social justice fields.
Her writing has been published in a number of journals and anthologies, and explores the themes of family, romance, connection and diversity.
Soft Side of Red is her first collection of poetry.
Meet the poet: Amelia Walker
Amelia Walker is a poet who lives and works on Kaurna Yerta (Adelaide), Australia. She has published four poetry collections and three books of poetry writing activities for educational and community settings, based on her extensive work as a poet in schools and with arts-health projects. She currently lectures in courses on writing and literary studies at the University of South Australia, and is managing a research project that facilitates partnerships between poets in different countries to promote intercultural learning and connectivity through the arts.
