For the better part of 30 years, Australian artist Phil Day has been involved in the illustration, design, printing, binding and publishing of literature.

Phil Day held his first solo show at the Goulburn Regional Gallery, New South Wales, in 1994. His first group show was the 2000 Australian Drawing Biennale. Since then, Day has rarely exhibited, preferring to collaborate with authors in the making of books. To date, Day has created over 70 books.

His work is represented in public collections of the National Gallery of Australia, National Library of Australia, State Library of New South Wales, State Library of Queensland, State Library of Victoria, as well as in numerous university collections throughout Australia.

Day is also the founder and editor of Gazebo’s poetry imprint, Life Before Man.
