Author: Yūka Ishii

Born in 1963 in the city of Hirakata in Osaka, Japan, Yūka Ishii is a doctoral graduate from the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology. Her debut novel The Mud of a Century is based on her experiences teaching Japanese in the Indian city of Chennai, and was awarded the Shinchō Newcomers Prize in 2017 and the Akutagawa Prize in 2018. She lives in the suburbs of Tokyo.
