Lamentations reviewed in The Saturday Paper

Gregory Day has reviewed Subhash Jaireth’s Lamentations in The Saturday Paper. He calls the writing ‘sinuous and meandering’, and singles out the book’s design as an object fully committed to the spirit of its content.

Lamentations is a sequence of prose poems about water, memory and belonging. Two voices move between rivers and deserts, Australia and Persia, Bashō and Hafez, tracing how grief can turn into grace.

It is published by Life Before Man, the Gazebo Books poetry imprint curated by Phil Day.

Paperback, 128 pages, ISBN 9781763600980, A$29.99. Available from our shop and from bookshops across Australia and New Zealand.
