Successology, the new book by Lydie Salvayre, translated from the French by Gila Walker, is out now.
Salvayre is one of France’s most celebrated writers and won the Prix Goncourt in 2014. Successology was first published by Éditions du Seuil in 2023 as Irréfutable essai de successologie.
The book is a satire dressed as a self-help manual. It takes aim at the powerful in media, business and government, and at the smaller manoeuvres of the literary world. It is short, sharp and funny, and it asks an uncomfortable question: how much of what we want comes down to wanting to win?
The cover is by Phil Day.
